The days of struggling to keep a bud in your ear or untangle a wire are over. We now have several accessory options to operate a hands free cell phone feature. There are Bluetooth earpieces, in vehicle Bluetooth, in dash car manufacturer specific and universal jacks available to us as alternate solutions to holding our cellular phones directly up to our ears. Although a wired headset is still very functional for many of us, the once trendy wired Brittney Spears-Garth Brooks-Madonna headsets are being replaced by wireless hands free cell phone options. The days of being tethered to the wall while talking on the phone are so far removed from our culture that many children do not know what the coily phone wire, also known as the cord, that matches grandma's kitchen phone even is. Wireless options to go hands free while you talk are very important, especially while you are driving. Most mobile phones come with a speakerphone option, so at the very least use the speaker phone if you must absolutely take or make a phone call while driving. The best hands free cell phone solution is not to use your cellular phone while you are driving. We have become creatures of habit in that when we get into our cars, we call someone. It is nice to have company while you drive, and it feels productive to get some work done while you drive, but wouldn't it be great to see more people focusing on driving rather than using one hand to hold the phone and one hand to drive? Imagine how many more turn signals will get used if we have a free hand? We joke about mobile phones and driving, but it is a very serious issue. Many cities and states are banning cell phone use while we drive, and rightly so. It has become probably the most noticeable distraction on the road. Our cars are for transportation. If you must use your phone please use a hands free cell phone and have respect and consideration for the people on the road who are focusing on their driving and for the precious cargo you carry.
